About The Game Before the Money

The Game Before the Money Oral History Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit.

The Game Before the Money seeks to preserve the life and career stories of former pro and college football players, in their own words. The foundation not only seeks to document the individual experiences of the players but to also gain insight into how their personal stories intersect with America’s cultural and socioeconomic history. The foundation also highly values collecting memories surrounding great moments in pro and college football history, as well as stories about important figures in NFL, AFL, AAFC, NCAA, and HBCU football history. Additionally, the organization works to enhance the preservation and knowledge of Texas sports history and the people involved with its rich history.

Michael Jackson (pen name Jackson Michael) founded the oral history project and continues to carry its purpose. He performs almost all of the tasks associated with the project, including writing the articles on this website. He is the author of three books, all of which are available on Amazon. He also wrote and directed a documentary about the Luv Ya Blue era Houston Oilers. You can learn more about him here.
